Dear Mr Child

Customer Feedback Reference:12458/1148467

Thank you for your recent communication which was received on
17/11/2009.

The Council is aware of the history of the area and the incident
concerning the old Augusta Cliff Stairs in the 1950's. An ad hoc
inspection of the retaining structure and surrounding area has been
undertaken and some minor repair work to superficial defects will be
instigated shortly. No other defects were noted.

We hope that this resolves the matter to your satisfaction.

If you are not happy with our response, you may write to us with your
reasons within the next ten working days, requesting a further review.

In order for us to respond as efficiently as possible, please ensure
that you quote the above reference number and address your communication
to **** - Customer Feedback Co-ordinator, Regeneration Services.

Yours sincerely

Hi **** I don’t quite believe what you are saying here, which appears to be that although you know there is something wrong with the cliff, that has a history of collapses that took the civil engineers by surprise, even when they were working on it, you don’t intend to instigate a temporary weight limit on the road above it while you investigate the problem.
You do I suppose appreciate that at the moment it is quite legal and possible to have several 40 tonne vehicles up there at the same time and perhaps a bus full of people, 20 metres is one hell of a long way to drop a bus full of people.
Please can you provide me with the results of the inspection, by which I mean the inspectors report under the FOI act?
I should point out here that there have recently been several custodial sentences handed out under the corporate manslaughter legislation.
I have added the link to my pictures about this for the benefit of ***** who I have copied this email to http://www.michaelsbookshop.com/foi/id13.htm
No I am not happy at all please forward this for further review.
Best regards Michael
