As one would expect, when selling Mockett's Journal, Mocketts and others have things to say about it.
Hi
Thanks for the journal which arrived in good shape. I found the book on the internet by chance. You may be interested to know that John Mockett was a relative of mine. Hopeville Farm is still in the family with a distant cousin living there now. My father has a leather bound original copy of the journal and is delighted you have chosen to reprint this journal. Thank you for your efforts in republishing some of these old manuscripts. Dad knew of the copy in the Ramsgate library but did not know about the fire.
Kind regards
Julia Mockett
Dear Julia

Dear Michael
I don’t think I have anything particular to add, only perhaps to say it amused me to read of his love of Devon and the descriptions since I now live there.
My email address for your website would be mockettj@yahoo.co.uk.
Many thanks
Julia
Just to let you know that further to my e.message yesterday, the book has now arrived safely.
I can already see that it is an extremely interesting journal and upon initially flicking through the pages I am amazed to see that the author, John Mockett, visited to the East Teignmouth church in Devon, which is just 50ft from my front door!
An astounding coincidence since neither he nor I, have any real connection to Teignmouth except that he had a friend here and I ended up living here purely by chance.
Many thanks for this great publication.
Valerie St.John-Scott.

Hello Michael,
Thanks for your message. Yes , you can by all means add my e.mail address to your website.
It occurred to me that if other Mockett descendants would like photographs of where John Mockett visited & holiday'd in Teignmouth, I would be very happy to photograph the church and other places that he mentioned in the journal and e.mail the photo's to them.
With kind regards
Valerie St.John-Scott
