Hi Charles the problem there is that the finishing date forthe consultation is Friday and about the middle of tomorrow the latest I canreasonably do the post.
You also have to appreciate that the blog and local affairsis something I devote a very small amount of my time to, my duties as a shopassistant and having primary school children don’t leave me with much in theway of spare time.
I realised that the questions were difficult ones, which iswhy I have tried to phone you during the last few days, in the hope I could putthem diplomatically.
From my point of view obviously replies to the questions inthe email would be easiest for me to write up into a blog post and would alsoeliminate the possibility of my misquoting you.

Best regards Michael

Dear Michael

I am sorry you have been having difficulty getting hold of me. As an occasional
reader of your blog I recognise that you have sought to be more balanced than
many.

Given your long list of questions I wonder whether it would be best to meet
rather than exchange emails.  If you would like to give my office a call we can
agree a date (01843 824825).

Regards

Charles

Hi Charles, I have tried to phone you a few times to ask you aboutthis night
flights consultation business, I write one of the local blogs notvery
significant only a couple of thousand readers a month, so you may not wantto
bother to reply.
Anyway I am trying to put together a post about the issue forpublication
tomorrow, also trying to keep the thing fairly balance on the forand against
front, so here are a few questions.
Would you consider accepting a similar ratio of night flights today time flights
as that enjoyed by Heathrow and Gatwick?
Would you consider running a test week where you have the maximumnumber of night
flights you are asking for, so we can tell what we wouldactually get in terms of
sleep disruption?
There has been some suggestion that the 106 agreement may notactually be a legal
document and that some locals may be going to challenge itsvalidity in the
courts, do you have any views on this?
Presumably if the 106 proved to be invalid then the previoussection 52 would
come into effect, any idea what the terms of this are? If youhave a copy perhaps
you could send it to me.
My guess is that the only medium term viable expansion of theairport would be as
a mixture of a historic aircraft centre and small regionalairport, in other
words if you continue to subsidise it at a six figure levelyou might just as
well do something popular as unpopular, any thoughts on this?
I can only find the Manson monthly operational reports up toSeptember on the
Infratil website, are they being withheld for any reason? Ifnot could you send
me copies?
Is it your intention to move to operating a freight only airport,or an airport
based around freight?
It says on your website that responses to the consultation may besent to TDC,
does this mean that the consultation on your website is differentto the
council’s?
What proportion of responses are you sending to the council?
Are you only sending responses that are for night flights?
Could you give a layman’s explanation of the maximum amount ofnight time flying
you are asking for in terms of types and amounts of planes?I. E. how many 747s
and when.
Could you give a layman’s explanation of what you would expect tobe a noisy week
based on what you would actually expect to be flying assumingthe airport was
running profitably?
I have heard now from three different sources that you are engagedin trying to
sell the airport to a Middle Eastern operator, is this true?
Are Infratil trying to sell the airport?
I have also heard that Flybee pulled out, not becausethey were unhappy with
Manson, but because Infratil wouldn’t make the investmentin facilities there
that they wanted, is there any truth in this?

Best regards Michael
